After expanding our alfalfa fields to compensate for longer and longer dry seasons, climate change has hit us again. Because of unprecedented drought, we'll need to purchase additional feed this year.

Can you help?

The view from the air. Normally this time of year the ground is green with grass. This year, nothing.

WHAT IS THE RHINO MOMMA PROJECT?

"It all started when our son wrote a school paper about saving rhinoceroses. We were so impressed, we bought one, and fell in love with them. So we expanded our farm in northern Namiba so we could help repopulate the species and save them from extinction."

Meet Cheryl and Jaco. For 14 years their family business has been rescuing and raising endangered rhinoceroses, and restoring their wildlife sanctuary. Now, they need your help to keep their rhinos alive through the current drought.

How Rhino Momma is different.

We are a family nonprofit.

No big offices, no pricey campaigns, no corporate salaries. 100% of your donation (after crowdfunding fees) goes directly to purchase supplies for our rhinos and to employ Africans to care for and protect them. 100%

WHAT RHINO MOMMA DOES
We grow rhinoceroses.  Our goal is to save and repopulate the species.  Jaco and Cheryl, with their team at Rhino Momma, have raised 141 rhino calves, most of which have gone to game reserves in Africa, and some to establish "buffer" breeding populations, a big boost for rhino conservation. Here is our newest baby, two days old.

We operate a wildlife orphange.  We provide a home and veterinarian care for injured and orphaned animals of all kinds. This orphaned baby rhino will consume 3000 gallons of milk until it is weaned at 18 months, and rack up lots of vet bills.

We provide a haven from poachers.  Every year hundreds of rhinos are killed by poachers, who brutally hack off their faces so they can sell their horns. Rhino Momma provides a safe home for threatened rhinos, welcoming them to the safety of our reserve, having transported them from as far as 1200 miles away. Rhino Momma has never lost a rhinoceros to poachers.
And more.  To house the Rhino Momma Project, Jaco and Cheryl purchased an expansive and over-grazed cattle ranch, and with their team have been restoring the natural landscape, reintroducing native plants and animals. They also support poor neighboring farmers by providing jobs, fodder for their livestock, and help with sustainable farming practices.
